Eltorque AS in Norway was chosen to supply electric actuators for valve control system package for A2SEA’s self-propelled DP2 Offshore Wind Turbine Installation vessel.
The building has begun at the COSCO Nantong KHI Ship Engineering Co yard, the largest shipyard in China and the second largest in the world. SEA INSTALLER is set to make her maiden voyage in the third quarter of 2012, installing turbines in the wind farms of the North Sea. The construction of such a specialized- and technically advanced- vessel required the expertise of Eltorque. Eltorque AS offers a 100% maintenance free actuator, with a high level of precision in its controlling possibilities, low cost of installation and operation, specifically designed for ship and offshore installations. Through a radical idea and intensive effort, Eltorque has been able to introduce the world’s finest electrical actuator and total valve control system. A2SEA has dedicated a team to newbuilding, upgrades and retrofits, offering flexibility for future offshore wind projects. “We feel privileged to contribute with our experience and knowhow to A2SEA’s venture of clean energy vessels for the next generation of wind turbine installation.” says Brynjar Balstad, Managing Director at Eltorque. At the future of clean energy investments, A2SEA maintains its position as a leading contractor in offshore wind installations, by optimizing vessels with innovative equipment such as Eltorque, thus resulting to higher efficiency, with shorter installation times and enhanced customer value.
